Under the Sink Organization : 3 Ways

Wanna know the total I spent getting under three sinks organized in my new place?

$8

I shit you not.

I either reused what I had used under the bathroom or kitchen sink in the last one or repurposed items from other places. And bought one thing for $8 that I’m kinda obsessed with and can’t wait to share with you!

First, I thought I would share side by side comparisons of under both the kitchen and bathroom sinks from the last place to this one. I now have a guest bathroom so I’ll also be sharing the ridiculously simple way I got that one organized.

ONE

Under my previous kitchen sink:

I lost a little bit of space but everything still fits. The caddy isn’t easy to get in and out but I tend to just grab the bottles I need anyway. And I don’t use the trash can all that often as this apartment complex comes with a large valet garbage can that I have to use. I just occasionally throw recyclables in here when they pile up so if I really wanted to, I could move it and create more room.

And you can’t see it in this photo but I repurposed a shelf riser from the previous bathroom (that you’ll see in that photo in a sec) behind the trash can. It just stores a bottle of white vinegar and a couple baking soda boxes since I use them to clean but not often so they don’t need to be front and center.

Just some closeups of this system that I implemented a year ago and it still works SO well!

To get the full rundown on how I created this system from scratch along with the exact products I used, check out the original post!

Yup, lost a little space here too (and clearly lighting is worse lol) but that’s OK! I kept the same Elfa system (again, you can check out my other original post detailing how I got the previous space organized and the exact products I used). The shelf riser is the one I threw in the back underneath my new kitchen sink and the bin is hiding out in my linen closet for now.*

*My current linen closet situation is a hot mess (it’s the first time I’ve ever had a real one!) and I can’t wait to show you that transformation!

What I did add was this lazy susan that I’m kinda obsessed with. It’s from Target’s new line of organizing products and the reason I love it so much is because of the price. The 10 inch is only $8 and the 15 inch is $10. That is unheard of in the organizing supply world. For some reason, lazy susans are stupid expensive IMO but you can’t beat this and the quality is actually really good. (PS they also carry a clear divided 11 inch one for $15).

I thought the 10 inch was going to be too small to hold all of my cleaning products (which I expanded on since moving here) but they fit JUST right. Ok so don’t make fun of me buttt I buy all my Method products at Target so when I went to pick up the lazy susan, I swung by the cleaning aisle and grabbed all 5 cleaners I own and placed them on it to make 100% sure. The lengths I go to get organized lol

But if you’re ordering online (or don’t want to look like a crazy person in a random aisle), here’s a trick. Take the items you want to put on a lazy susan, corral them in a circle and then measure them! This way you know what size you need (and, of course, it has to fit in the cabinet or on the shelf too). Photo for examples:

As you can see, a 10 inch suze would be plenty of space!

Lastly, I’m near sighted so I can’t see what the hell I’m doing in my bathroom mirror since it’s too far away. So I have this lighted mirror from Amazon that I use each morning but my countertop is small so I don’t want it out all day and night. Hence, I store it underneath the sink for easy access. It can run on batteries but I find the light to be brighter when it’s plugged in but also don’t want cord clutter. These Command cord bundlers are the bomb.com (and, yes, I know I just aged myself).

THREE

This is the new addition: the guest bathroom! I kept it SO simple. I repurposed two wooden open bins from The Home Edit line from my old coat closet (feel free to check out that original post). These bins come in two different sizes and also a pretty cool onyx color if that’s more your style.

They fit perfectly here and I used one for cleaning products and paper towels, the other for extra hand towels, wash cloths and toilet paper. I could stack two on top of each other with shorter items if I need and there’s even open space behind but at this point, I don’t need to put anything else in here. It’s just for guests so it’s not being used all the time.

If you’re moving or thinking about it in the future, I highly recommend thinking outside the box when it comes to organizing products. What fits in one space now can absolutely be repurposed somewhere else. In fact, I want you to think about this when you’re in the process of buying any new organizing products. Can you picture reusing a container in a new home or even just in another space of your current home? These investments should last you so that’s also why quality is so important. Read reviews before buying anything or ask me! Because ya’ll know I won’t sugar coat my opinion on something ;)

PS I have an Etsy shop now if you’re looking for gifts for that organized person in your life!
